We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bell Chime. It is a lovely house with great views, and very close to the shops and Positive: The property was very comfortable and clean with lots of nice added touches like the lovely welcome pack and bathroom soaps. It is beautifully decorated and the view from the back of the house is amazing. Negative: I think it should be made clearer in the description about how steep the stairs are, as my elderly parents struggled a bit with this. Also, the position of the house is very high up and a good portion of the route down into Matlock is extremely steep. It would have been helpful to know this.

Comfortable, well appointed cottage in great location

The cottage is extremely well appointed and comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very good. The top floor bedroom has its own seating area as well as the bathroom with a good size bath and excellent shower. Comfortable beds - 2 large double rooms and 2 twin beds in the smaller room which was ideal for the grandchildren, although suitable for adults too. Granddaughter loved the illuminated dressing table mirror! The small back yard is a sunny spot with fabulous views. Location is very good, down the hill to the Park - with the town at the other end of the park. We walked everywhere. The children’s playground has a water splash area which the kids loved (free), a sit on train and a boating lake. We used the train to Matlock Bath (one stop) twice - including to go to the Heights of Abraham. Train cost £7 for 4 flexi day tickets and we got £5 off the ticket prices at the Heights - bargain!! I think it is fair to point out that the cottage is on a hill - the side road to the park is short but very steep and the stairs in the cottage - especially to the 2nd floor are steep (very good handrails and motion sensor lights and well carpeted) and there is a step down to the sink and utility area so if mobility is an issue these should be considered. As stated in the description you can hear the church bells - but they don’t boom - I found it lovely to hear and check the time!

We had a great stay. We visited Abraham heights which was a great experience. Positive: The cottage was beautiful. It was great to have a patio area, especially as the weather was gorgeous. A lovely location.
